Les cornes

Ada Rack starts from an accumulation of wood pieces, too beautiful for the fire and too short to be used in bespoke furniture.

From these offcuts comes a wall-mounted surfboard rack, designed and made in Bidart, Basque Country.

The object is made of two solid wood parts. A block fixed to the wall by dovetail joint, a system invisible once in place. A steam-bent curve that holds the rail of the board. The assembly is designed to be done by the user: the dovetail slides, locks, disappears. No visible hardware.

The wood species vary by series, walnut, plane tree, ash, maple. Each pair carries the particular reading of its wood: grain, knots, variations in tone. No two pairs are strictly identical. All racks are finished with linseed oil.

Ada Rack was produced in limited edition. Fifty pairs, all sold. Shown here with a board by NAJE Surfboards. Other projects will follow on the same principle, selected production offcuts, short runs. Photographs Papi aime Mamie.
